Beach Baby

One Noah J, spotted sunbathing and enjoying [the view of] the waves at Malibu Lagoon earlier today...

"Hey lady, get out of my sun!"

Retail Therapy (au francais)

So here we are, fast approaching the end of May; the time of year when I normally start the gruelling process that is the Annual Bikini Hunt.  This season however, (considering I did just have a baby), I figured I would  give myself carte blanche, pushing all thoughts of disrobing in public into the distant future of...say summer 2012...

But then yesterday, I walked in to my local branch of Petit Bateau.

Before moving Stateside, I often bought Petit Bateau staples like T's and tank tops by the bulk, finding the quality and fit truly exceptional and liking the "frenchness" that I thought lent a touch of je ne sais quoi to even the most basic garments. (Not to mention the adorable logo that is a picture of - you guessed it - a little boat!) It was only recently that I noticed the store in our neighbourhood, and seeing as this is first and foremost a children's boutique, my reason for being there yesterday was really Noah in general, and his need for cute pajamas in particular... Though once inside, I was happy to rediscover this excellent brand for grownups as well as kids, and especially pleased to see that they now also do a lovely line of swim wear, complete with bikinis, one pieces, beachy dresses and towels. - All tres, tres chic. :)
Hmmm, I thought  - suddenly feeling inspired enough to enter the dressing room - perhaps I shall hit the sand (or should I say la plage?) this summer after all...

And of course I didn't forget
 about those cute pajamas! :)

Three Months

Noah wanted to show you some of the things he can do now, like...

rock the air guitar...

hold his head up high (naked:)...

sleep without the trusty swaddle...

(though not always.:)

Yeah!

Happy Monday everybody. Xx

Not Bad

Mother's Day just took on a whole new meaning...

Being the thoughtful baby that he is, I kind of figured Noah would do a little somethin'somethin' to acknowledge me yesterday. What I didn't expect however, was that he would plan an all day celebration that involved breakfast in bed and white roses (my favourites), a beautiful silver locket with a photo of himself inside, delicious seafood and sangria at Barney's, followed by some mandatory browsing in the shoe and makeup sections - during which he (and his dad) behaved in a remarkably civilised manner...
Not bad at all.

Foot Note:  While at Barney's, I spotted these beauties, thinking they would compliment - well, almost any outfit... Don't you agree?

Chillin'

...Is something our little family is quite good at. In fact, it pretty much sums up what we've been up to since my last post. (Well, I guess one of us was working some of that time, but as it didn't involve moi I couldn't possibly comment (!)) Anyways, summer came early to L.A. this year and the last few weeks were filled with warm, sunny days when the outdoors beckoned... Since moving here we've discovered several gorgeous parks in Beverly Hills and just last Sunday, Sean, Noah and I whiled the afternoon away in one of them...

Palm trees. They still seem so exotic to me,
even after all these years in California.

I swear I could spend all day squeezing those chubby little cheeks...

Things are good with Noah. Great in fact; he still sleeps through the night, eats like a champ, smiles all the time now and has even started to laugh out loud (my usual reward for making a particularly witty remark ;). But mostly he likes to hang out in his lamb chair, pram, on a blanket or our laps; anywhere he can have a look around and just relax...
At the pediatrician's recommendation, we've started a "bedtime routine" at the same time every night which involves a bath, a swaddle, feeding and a few lullaby's in the rocking chair. This is so cosy and probably my favourite time of the day. Best of all? It works like a charm; the little bean is always in bed before 8pm now, freeing up the whole evening for us to enjoy ourselves (and lets face it, the television...) And on that note, was I to dispense of just one nugget of baby wisdom, (as a seasoned parent of almost 12 weeks!) it would be to promote the utter wonder that is the swaddle. Wrapping Noah snugly in one of his little blankets before bedtime is literally like pushing a magic button; it immediately relaxes his entire body, making him yawn withing seconds. Because of this, I am nervous about the fast approaching day when my little boy will be too big to bundle. Our baby book says to stop swaddling around three months or so, as that marks the end of the "newborn stage". It feels like Noah was born like, yesterday, - yet here we are, passing milestones already...
